Less Is More
One of the key elements of this training is self awareness. Once you begin to recognise where you are holding tension and fear you will be able to deal with it, therefore becoming more relaxed. You'll then be more comfortable around your horse and they around you. You'll find that you will save both energy and money because you're no longer looking outside yourself for "quick-fix" solutions as there will be a greater level of harmony in your relationship.
Pip's teaching allows both horse and handler to understand each other in order to open the lines of communication and to recognise how the human action inadvertently influences the response of the horse.
There is no blame or punishment, just reward and a glorious sense of achievement for both. Pip teaches all aspects of horsemanship from ground handling, tack fitting, confident riding at every level, stable and field management.
Only when we recognise how and where we are holding tension and fear can we learn to deal with it and become more relaxed around our horse. In turn, this means the horse becomes more relaxed. You will find you save time, energy and money because you are no longer looking outside yourself for a quick fix solution. Instead there will be a greater level of peace and contentment with horses and this can transfer to all your relationships, both human and equine.

Novices
If you have ever thought there should be more to riding lessons than walking nose to tail around a school and you are interested in learning to ride and communicate with horses through a gentle, holistic approach, then Pippsway is for you. This is not Monty Roberts, clicker training or Parelli, but a whole new way of working in accord with horses, devised over forty years of experience.

Pip’s teaching promotes creating a rewarding relationship with your horse through grooming, tacking up and handling your horse on the ground in ways that the horse understands and that strengthen your relationship. This method increases both the skills learned and the enjoyment of a session for both horse and rider. You will never be rushed or hurried at Pippsway. The learner sets the pace and is fully supported.
“I teach groundwork up to riding as most people, when they purchase their first horse, have only ever sat on a horse in riding lessons. They are never taught the foundation of catching, leading, grooming, tacking up or ‘ground handling skills’. These skills take up the majority of your time spent with your horse so to understand why and what you are doing is so important to your whole relationship with your horse. Groundwork is the foundation of your relationship.”
Children
Children and their ponies are very welcome at Pippsway. Children are often more open and quicker to learn and Pip ensures that their early exposure to ponies is as positive as it can be. Pip has taught many children to ride and they have gone on to be confident and relaxed around horses. This is a skill that will stay with them for life.

Intermediate
Do you feel stuck in your riding or bored with the same old routines? Pip can help intermediate riders realise their full potential and move their riding forward.
Individual sessions maximise the learning experience. Pip positively encourages questions and gives riders the freedom to talk about experiences and goals.

Advanced
As an ex-competitor herself, Pip understands the commitment and drive it takes to ride at the top level. Using the same methods to get horse and rider working in harmony, she can increase the performance of both. We know that successful riding is largely in the mind and Pip can teach you the techniques needed to achieve your best.
